A 32-year-old from Sarnia faces drug trafficking charges after police seized more than $33,500 worth of fentanyl at a Wellington Street residence this week.
Sarnia Police say officers with the Criminal Investigations Division and Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant in the 300 block of Wellington Street just before 9 p.m., Tuesday, April 16.
“Officers made a successful entry into the residence without incident,” police said in a news release. “Inside, three individuals were located and subsequently arrested.”
During the search of the residence, officers discovered and seized 61.54 grams of suspected fentanyl, 91.14 grams of a suspected cutting agent, and $2,095 in cash.
“Additionally, a significant find of 18.08 grams of suspected ‘uncut’ fentanyl, believed by investigators to be of higher purity, was located within the premises,” police added.
As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old of Sarnia has been charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000.
The accused was held for bail hearing.
The estimated street value of the seized fentanyl amounts to approximately $33,531.
